Your child sees a small shape, then several busy designs. Only one contains the shape exactly, at the same size and the same way round, with no turning.

Show answer

Answer: A Only the right answer contains the whole outline of the shape at exactly the same size and the same way round. The other designs hide a shape that is flipped, turned, bigger, or slightly different. Tip: find one distinctive corner of the shape first, then trace its sides in the design.

Tips

  • Look for the shape's most unusual corner or edge first, then check the rest from there.
  • Size matters: a similar shape that's bigger or smaller doesn't count.
  • Lines can be shared with other parts of the design, so the shape won't stand out on its own.

The usual trap: A design with the shape turned or flipped, which doesn't count.
